Treating Endometriosis
If you have endometriosis there are different methods in going about treating it, all depending on how severe your case is. Some factors include your age, if you are trying to get pregnant, and how much pain you are experiencing. If you are trying to get pregnant some of the treatments for endometriosis can decrease fertility. This would obviously not be a treatment you would want to pursue if you were trying to get pregnant.

If you are trying to conceive then some of the safer treatments that would not decrease you fertility include:
- Laparoscopic surgery
- IVF Treatment
- IUI Treatment
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery is when the doctor removes the buildup of endometrial tissue. This includes scar tissue and adhesions which were caused by the endometrial growth outside your uterus. Choosing laparoscopic surgery is not a cure for endometriosis, and may not be for everyone. However, women who undergo laparoscopic surgery have actually experience an increase in fertility (up to nine months even).
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Treatment
Some women try the fertility treatment in vitro fertilization after laparoscopic surgery.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) Treatment
Women with mild cases of endometriosis may want to consider IUI treatment. This is very simple treatment for women fighting infertility. This is a small tube puts sperm directly in the uterus. This is also known as artificial insemination (AI) treatment. This is one of the first fertility treatments many couples choose because it is a simple procedure, while not costing an arm and a leg. IUI fertility treatment usually runs around $900. This sounds way better than $10,000 to $20,000 for in vitro fertilization treatment.
If you are experiencing pain with endometriosis, you may want to consider taking over the counter pain medications to alleviate the pain. You can also battle the pain by having a healthier diet and regular exercise.
If you and your partner do not want to conceive then you have other treatment options available for endometriosis. This includes having a hysterectomy or undergoing hormonal treatments.
