Clomifene or Clomiphene or Clomid or Clomifert is a medicine used to treat women with infertility problems. More specifically it stimulates the hormone gonadotropin which helps with the growth and release of a healthy mature egg during ovulation. This medication is primarily used for ovarian stimulation to help with infertility, i.e., polycystic ovary syndrome. You can also find this medication under other names such as Clomiphene citrate, Clomid, Serophene, and Milophene.

Women who are having trouble getting pregnant may take Clomifene to help them become pregnant. Studies have shown that about 70% of the women taking this drug were able to ovulate and about 15% to 50% became pregnant.
Before you decide on taking any form of medicine you should always consult with your physician to see if it right for you. There are side effects such as headaches, dizziness, and stomach aches. If you do experience any of these symptoms for a prolong period of time you should seek medical attention immediately.
More serious side effects include vaginal bleeding, mood swings, severe pain in their pelvic region, diarrhea, short of breath, nauseous, swelling in the legs, and chest pain.
